Your Guide & Host

Hi, I’m Alan.

I am a keen outdoors type, photographer, scout leader, and former ambulance officer. I have also previously worked as a trekking guide in New Zealand’s deep-south.

My driving passion is to bring you, my guests, to the natural wonders of New Zealand’s South Island, bringing those wonders to life, complete with sights, smells, sounds, and history for you. I have this theory: “If I can’t bring the South Island to you, then I must bring you to the South Island”

I also have a full NZ driver’s licence with Passenger endorsement, allowing me to carry up to 12 people (although I limit my groups to six allowing for a more personalised service), along with a Small Passenger Transport Service Licence issued by the New Zealand Transport Authority, legally allowing me to operate the Tours side of my business.

I also hold a concession issued by the Department Of Conservation (DOC) for a number tracks around the South Island, further enhancing the tour packages that I’m able to offer my clients, along with an Adventure Mark reviewed Operations and Health and Safety Plan. I have also recently completed an NZOIA (New Zealand Outdoor Instructor’s Association) Bush Leader qualification, which has only enhanced my understanding of safetly in the outdoors environments that I operate some of my short bush walks in.

Our Tours

The Scenic Tour

Originally designed for the keen photographer, our exclusive, small group scenic tours are also well suited for comfortable and relaxed general sightseeing. Our scenic tours range fom half day and full day tours around Canterbury all the way up to week long tours around the South Island.

Prices for our scenic tours start from just $122.00 per person for a half day tour, but do vary considerably depending on the length and nature of the tour, and the numbers of guests. The more guests, the cheaper it is per head (up to our limit of six). Our tour prices are all inclusive of everything you need for that tour, including permits, fees, transport, guide, meals, twin-share or double hotel and motel accommodation (where appropriate) and more. Many of our tours also feature optional extras that can be purchased to enhance and expand your tour.

Additionally, many of our scenic tours go to places where most other tour companies and buses don’t go allowing you to enjoy some really unique scenery from the South Island of New Zealand

“Come together as strangers, leave as friends”

The Custom Tour

Within the realms of our operational abilities and obligations, you get to customise your own tour with us. Its as simple as that.

Most of our tours can be customised to suit your specific needs, or we can custom build a tour for you from the ground up. Fancy a bit of bird watching around the South Island, or want a photography tour? We can customise both those options for you and more. Actually, photography is a speciality of ours and we just love hosting customised, one off photography tours.

Please note that our customised tours do work out more expensive than our ready-made tours, especially where extra permitting through government agencies (for example the Department of Conservation) is required, and can take longer to setup. But if you’re patient, and willing to work with us, we will do our best to bring your dream tour to fruition, although we do not currently operate in the North Island

Get in touch, and let us see how we can help you!
